GIFTube.com: Youtube for animated images

31 October 2007 2 Comments

giftube.jpgThough animated GIF’s becomes out of fashion now-a-days, there are people who are still using GIF images, mostly in profiles of forums and other social networking sites like MySpace etc. If you are one among them and if you are searching for a one stop portal for animated images, GIFTube is for you. GIFTube, which is an exact clone of the popular video sharing site Youtube in concept and partly in its name, is allowing users to upload images upto 2.5 Mb, search images based on categories, tags and provides html codes to embed the images on their blog/website. This site developers are trying to cover all the web 2.0 features including listing popular/recent/featured GIF’s, commenting on a particular GIF etc in the site. User registration feature is missing and hence the voting, marking favorites etc are also not available. Fortunately/unfortunately, more than 80% of images belongs to adult section though i select “Hide Adult” option. This is serious area of concern, As kids who are the possible potentials users of such animated images will not be allowed to use this site.

Bottomline: Nice concept lots of improvement needed in implementation.

P.S: This is one of my fav’s
