Google acquires Jaiku

Acquisition news are now-a-days becomes very common, as every one and day, Some internet giants is acquiring some startups. Google in its turn today acquired Finnish based Jaiku, a twitter like microblogging service. Jaiku which describes itself as activity stream and presence sharing service that works from the Web and mobile phones was launched only July 2006. Jaiku allows users to share their activities thro’ short messages called Jaikus from Web, IM and Mobile phones.  The term and details of deal is not disclosed.

Google’s acquistion of Jaiku is little bit surprising as Jaiku’s rival and much popular service Twitter was co-founded by Evan Williams, one of the brains behind the Google-purchased Blogger service. Google’s strategy of incorporating Jaiku to its service is currently not disclosed.
