Yahoo Launches SMS search in India

After Google, now Yahoo India lauches SMS search facility in the country where the number of mobile users are witnessing an exponential growth. The service, One Search enables users to search business and local listing through an SMS. Users has to send an SMS to 58242 along with Yahoo’s short code. An SMS to 58242 with the city name returns the local weather details while an SMS with the business category and location will give the details of the business category in the particular location. Say, an SMS like “Restaurant Chennai” to 58242 will return three hotel details as a reply.

This service is currently available in almost all major mobile service providers including Airtel, Reliance Mobile, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, BPL Mobile, Aircel, Tata Indicom and Spice Telecom but the service is limited to only metropolitian cities of India including Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore.
